WAKE UP! A STRIP CLUB IS LIKELY UNLESS YOU CARE TO SPEAK OUT. (WARNING! R-rated photo)

I attended the Central City Council meeting last Tuesday (July 2) to ask an important question…

WHY A STRIP CLUB? Let’s be honest here…Central City needs something very desperately - money. They are a formerly beautiful, historic city we all loved to visit with all the old shops, and the ambience of the old west.

Not so much anymore. My question for the CEO, Eric Langan (RCI Hospitality Holdings) was simple…

“If you know Central City needs money, and you care about the town so much that you have purchased many of the buildings for millions of dollars, why not come up with another idea, besides a strip club, which the people have clearly spoken against?”

This man, friendly enough to withstand the grilling I gave him after the meeting, said he’d be open to other ideas, BUT - and this is a BIG BUT - this is what he knows! He bought his first club when he was only 19 years old, and RCI has dozens of clubs across the country. They own Rick’s Cabaret in Denver. (Look it up)! I liked Eric, but I hate his idea.

If anyone reading this has a great idea for bringing Central City back, please write me at thegilpinlight@gmail.com, and we will get your ideas to the man! Who knows? I told him I’d be praying for a better result for him and for Central City. He thanked me.

The Central City Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m.  If you have an opinion, please contact them, or go and let them know in person. They allow public input at the end of their meetings. For all.

Other important news for Central City…the Mayor, Jeremy Fey, is collecting petition signatures today and tomorrow in an effort to get on our ballot in November - TO RUN AS AN UNAFFILIATED CANDIDATE FOR GILPIN COUNTY COMMISSIONER.

Mr. Fey has become close with the CEO of RCI (strip club fame), and has not been opposing him in his efforts, thus far.

Who knows what’s behind this run for Commissioner, since Mayor Fey still has two years left to his Mayoral term in Central City. I’ve heard he believes he can handle both positions, should he win his Commissioner race. (IF he gets the signatures in time).

As to the other political issues in the County…the Republicans are having a meeting tomorrow night (Thursday, July 11) at the Gallery in Central City at 7 p.m.  please feel free to attend and learn about all the petitions circling around the State -

  • Boys in Girls’ Sports,
  • Prohibit Rank Choice Voting
  • Closed Primary Elections
  • Parental Notification of Gender Incongruence
  • Preserve Caucus and Assembly Process
If you think things will change for Central City with strip clubs, you won’t believe how much your vote will change if CO passes this Rank Choice Voting system.

Here are the two main events in GILPIN for the two major political parties here…

DEMOCRATS: (tonight)

REPUBLICANS: (tomorrow night)

There will be a door prize and dessert at the Republican meeting.

I apologize for the late notice on the local meetings, but a girl had out-of-state company, and I’m getting caught up! 😂🇺🇸

Thanks for caring about Gilpin County, and your role in making this County and State better!

Feel free to respond in writing with any questions.

Even better - attend a meeting with like-minded people and learn what’s going on around here!

Thank you for reading, researching and sharing the light!
