WE DID IT! FREE SPEECH LIVES! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Your Gilpin Light neighbors STOOD UP for the First Amendment in Gilpin County yesterday!
AND WE WON!!!!

Background
On 2/27/2024 our County Commissioners unanimously voted to pass Resolution 24-54, which made it unlawful to wear anything political on any County property, at any time of year.

IT’S A NEW DAY!
Veterans joined our team today, making  first-time visits to the Board of Commissioners meeting to explain what the First Amendment means to them. Several submitted letters and our members read them into the record. You would have enjoyed the heartfelt comments by all our members present today. You can watch the beginning of the meeting and see for yourself. Reach it at gilpincounty.colorado.gov.
The county has started posting their Commissioner meetings.

BOOM!!!
After the Commissioners and the administrators listened to the folks, County Manager, Ray Rears
      SUSPENDED THE RESOLUTION!
His live statement is at the end of the meeting.

YOU NOW HAVE YOUR FREEDOM
BACK IN GILPIN COUNTY, FRIENDS! It is unnecessary to have rules for people outside of the one we already respect - you know - the 100’ rule. We know! No problemo!

THE FIRST AMENDMENT IS POWERFUL!
Thanks to all those who stood up to speak and to those who came out from their warm, comfortable homes to sit in solidarity with us all and help change things for the good. We hope you consider carving out an hour for the causes you care about when they rise up. It feels good to make a difference, right? Right!

       WHAT DID YOUR COMMISSIONERS DO?
Sandy Hollingsworth (D) - No response
Susan Berumen (D) - No response
Marie Mornis (R) - letter submitted to
colleagues prior to the meeting:

We enjoy keeping the light on all things Gilpin. It’s healthy for our county and our grandchildren who will have what we leave them…☺️

Thank you for reading, researching and sharing the light!
