GILPIN COUNTY TOP SALARIES IN 2023!

GILPIN COUNTY TOP SALARIES IN 2023

(Elected officials’ salaries are determined by the State of Colorado).

Our county is wealthy…we pay our employees far more than what many of the people in this county earn at their jobs both up here and down the hill.

We multiplied the monthly salaries of those top earners by 12. All the base numbers came from the Gilpin County Finance Director’s report for 2023 and 2019 as monthly salaries. If you’d like to look at all the salaries, you can search “Gilpin County Salaries.”

‼️‼️‼️‼️ONE MORE THING…‼️‼️‼️‼️

Our county commissioners (last year) allocated more than $100,000 for a study to let us know if our county is hiring the right amount of people, and whether wages are right for our county. Yep, they did that.

The report is due in mid-October, 2023.

BEFORE THE REPORT IS EVEN COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED TO THE COMMISSIONERS, they just voted 2-1, (YES - Hollingsworth and Berumen, NO - Mornis) passing…

       Agenda Item No. 4 - Resolution 23-85 to…

HIRE ANOTHER PERSON (annual salary range $60,222 - $84,222), creating another new position for our government… “Community Engagement Officer” TO SERVE THE COUNTY MANAGER, WHO ALREADY HAS THREE FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES REPORTING DIRECTLY TO HIM! We pay our County Manager $216,000 a year, which includes great benefits.

They plan for this new hire to manage social media (?!), communicate with the public, coordinate communications between county departments, website issues, etc. Really? These are facts.

Oh! I almost forgot! (One more “one more thing”!)  On the same agenda,  Item 13 - “Resolution 23-86, Lobbyist Contract Proposal.” We’re HIRING A LOBBYIST?!?

                         What’s next????

IF THIS WEREN’T TRUE, WE MAY ALL GET A GOOD LAUGH AT ANOTHER COMMUNITY’S TAXES BEING SPENT AT HIGH VOLUME WHILE THE TAXPAYERS ARE BEING ASKED TO PAY MORE ON THEIR NEXT BALLOT!

But it’s not someone else. It’s us

May I ask, again, why we are facing another tax hike proposal that never ends?!?

Please share this information with your friends and neighbors.  There is so much more to share, but this is it for today.

Consider contacting your commissioners. We have a link below. You can also attend the meeting at the Old Courthouse or on Zoom from gilpincounty.colorado.gov. Click “join.”

Thank you for reading, researching and sharing the light!
